OFFsessions #6 moving with information

We invite you to the sixth edition of  OFFsessions in which we are diving deeper into the notion of ‘information’. What is information, and what does it mean in the context of dance? What is the relationship between information, language and choreography? How do we use and share information to communicate through our bodies?

Come join us where we work
let’s explore, reflect, move and question.

How do you move through the world?

Dance and movement are amazing ways to explore our humanity and think with our bodies. Observing, feeling, questioning, playing… How do you move through the world?

OFFprojects and Korzo present ongoing encounters between contemporary dance and students from The Hague. We want to meet you and exchange ideas and sensations.

10 YEARS OFFprojects!

10 YEARS OFFprojects!

OFFprojects exists for 10 years now! From where we’re standing, that went very fast.

Check out the 10 main productions we made in 10 years on our instagram @offprojects. You can find reels to all of them under the 10 years OFF Highlight.

We had a wonderful celebration in May at Korzo Theater with a show of PART. This felt very special as this theater is where we had our first premiere OFFline all those years ago.

More to come 🙂

So Far – an exhibition with a performance program

So Far – an exhibition with a performance program

We are very excited to announce:

So Far
@ The Grey Space In The Middle, Den Haag
20-23 December
A four-day event combining an exhibition with a performance program.

So Far is part retrospective, part experimental space and part social gathering. A four-day event that combines an exhibition with a performance program.

The ongoing exhibition will include a collection of OFFprojects’ photo, video and installation work. The changing evening programs will consist of performances, research demonstrations and live music, with every evening a different theme.
We are collaborating with like minded artists Gosse de Kort and Leo Scarin to make this event happen.

Just Once, our yearly event to open up our process to you.
Halfway through the creation of our new performance Songs And Silences, we want to share the work-in-progress, the questions and conversations that guide us with you.
Excerpts of choreography, live music, live experiments and we’ll also be interviewing Robert Neugarten, a translator with a specialty in music books and biographies. He has translated books by and about the likes of Bono and Elton John, and most recently he translated Bob Dylan’s new book The Philosophy Of Modern Song.
We will be speaking with Robert about the role of songs in our society as well as about the similarities between translating and dancing.

Prize nomination! We’re thrilled to share that Interval, the piece we made with @Gosse de Kort has been nominated for the Zwaan award for outstanding dance production.

The nomination is both a surprise and a delight. We see it as a wonderful recognition of the dedication and creativity that everyone in the team put into the work. It is also a signal that research, collaboration and slow processes are great ways to work 🙂

The Zwaan prizes, also known as the ’Oscars of Dutch dance’, are awarded by the VSCD (association of theater directors). The winners will be announced during the Gala of the @Nederlandse Dansdagen in Maastricht on 30 September, where we are also performing a small fragment of our new work PART.

Congratulations to all the other nominees, thank you to all our partners and special thanks to @WhyNot who commissioned the original research trajectory.
